Comeback Kids

Everyone has a beloved character that they feel hasn't gotten his or her due. Mine is Vibe (and his brother, Reverb) as I've confessed--no, proudly proclaimed--in a previous post.

Inspired by the glory of Vibe, I now extend the offer. For whichever hero wins the Comeback Poll in the sidebar I will make a public case that they merit a comeback.

So pick your favorite, while I practice the mental gymnastics that will require for this daring exercise...

Oh, please. A complete list of ringers. The only stretch here is Mr. Scarlet. And he is easily made topical by updating "Nazi Smasher" to "Terrorist Smasher". (Pirates are the new Gorillas, and Fundamentalists are the new Nazis.)

Where's 7/11? Where's the King? The other other Captain Marvel. Those would require at least some effort...

If Mr. Scarlet wins, H, I'll change my OWN NAME to Mr. Scarlet.

As for Batwoman...

isn't that what you would said about Batgirl, before they did it?

Isn't it essentially what Huntress is, in all but name?

I voted for Ultraa. The recent revival of Adam Strange and the restoration of the Green Lantern Corps prove that this is a great time for space-opera-type characters, adn Ultraa is certainly a distinctive one. Maybe he should have a title co-starring Space Cabby?

In retrospect, I guess I confused Ultraa with Ultra the Multi-Alien. Why didn't you include him, huh?

Uhhh... I thought I did!

I MEANT Ultra the Multi-Alien. If there's another Ultra, it's one I've not heard of. The DCU is a darned big place...!

Ultraa was the name of a pre-Crisis DC hero from Earth-Prime and a completely different post-Crisis character who was associated with Maxima. The original Ultraa's bio is here, and the post-Crisis version's is here.

The second Ultraa sounds like a typically boring post-Giffen JLA character, but the first has potential. Maybe he somehow survived the Crisis and could try to make up for abandoning his Earth by going to the micro-universe of Qewq and joining the Ultramarines? (I think there really needs to be an Ultramarines series, or at least a story arc that follows up on them.) What Marvel character would he be the equivalent of, though? Captain Marvel? The Aquarian? (Boy am I pathetic.)
