Stupid Hero Quote

I like baseball. Really I do. My favorite comic book story of all time is a baseball story. But I'm not such a tool that I would ever say:

"Gosh, baseball is an exciting sport! While you're at it, you forget everything else!"

But some hero did. A hero who wasn't playing the game, just watching it. In a coat and tie. Which he changed into to go to the game.

And, no, it wasn't Barry Allen, who was at home organizing his comic book collection...

Clark Kent might wear a suit and tie to cover a baseball game for the Daily Planet, I think.

True...but not correct in this instance!

I think Clark would find baseball too...strenuous. I picture him as more of a sychronzied swimming or iceskating fan.

Hal Jordan. It's in that Green Lantern replica 80 Page Giant, I think. He's watching a thinly disguised version of the guy who beat Babe Ruth's record (Maris, right?)

Bingo! Hal Jordan is a major sports GEEK.

Nicely, Geoff Johns (the avatar of DC collective comics consciousness) remember Hal's fondness for baseball and used it in Rebirth when Hal/Spectre joined Guy and John Stewart at a game.
