Things That Made Me Happy....

in my comics this week.

  • Jefferson Pierce, bug-zapper.
  • Rodger dodger? Really?
  • "It must be love."
  • Miss...uh... Woman.
  • What Linda has in mind (despite the preceding mistake in reversed word balloons).
  • Best Mount Rushmore joke ever.
  • If I wanted to pick a safe place to jump to, Hal Jordan's head would not be it.
  • The Rogues being ... dumb? evil? twisted? enough to think that killing Kid Zoom makes up for killing Kid Flash.
  • It's not all about you, Supergirl.
  • Tragedy must not be random; it must be calculated.
  • "If you had an orifice I'd kiss it or rub it or something."
  • A mayonnaise jar.
  • Finally, I understand why Pied Piper would be a conduit for the anti-life equation.
  • "Mock me at your peril, woman."
  • Starro + Chemo = Thing of Beauty.

You really liked this week's Booster, didn't you?

You aren't kiddin'. You might as well just paint a big target on your own head.

Tragedy must not be random; it must be calculated.

One of my pet peeves is when people describe moments of random misfortune as tragic, when they are merely pathetic. It all goes back to Mr. Watt in the eleventh grade teaching us kids the difference between Tragedy and tragedy--a lesson I never forgot.

I was a bit on the terrified side considering Booster Gold this week, but it all worked out. Thank Goodness! A mayonnaise jar indeed.

Things that made me and my son both not happy: Jericho. A total loser as a hero, and a total waste as a villain. Now if it had been Doctor Bedlam, that would have actually fitted in with some other things going on in the DCU.

No love for the Jimmy Olsen special? While it did away with some characters I liked, it brought back others I like, and I think it was the best-written Jimmy we've seen in over a decade.

And everyone is surprised that DCU: Decisions turns out to be stupid... why, exactly?

I can't decide what I think about the Jimmy Olsen special. I don't know whether it's supposed to be of a piece with the Twilight of the Kirbyverse that we're seeing throughout the DCU line, or whether it's Robinson doing his traditional rummaging around in the toybox of cool old DC toys, nostalgically adoring them, then breaking them.

Also couldn't tell whether Countdown was in Jimmy's history or not-- which is probably for the best.

"Finally, I understand why Pied Piper would be a conduit for the anti-life equation"

Then you're ahead of me.

Because he uses music/sound -- which is essentially math -- to control people and rob them of their will Which is what the Anti-Life Equation does.

'Rodger dodger' So the guy in Green Arrow/Black Canary is indeed a tribute to the British comic book character Roger the Dodger? Oh dear.

I loved the Jimmy special, here are my bletherings!

Off topic but...
The Anti-Life Equation, especially as it's being used in Final Crisis Revelation, does it have a Pro-Life Equation counterpart going on in the antimatter universe? I mean, yeah, I read Trinity and I see where there's NOT one going on, but shouldn't there be?
