Things That Made Me Happy

in my comics.

  • "Luke Cage owes me ten bucks."
  • Skeets should always wear a beret.
  • Honestly, I've seen gas lines do a lot of strange things, but never impale someone through the head.
  • The tetherball maneuver; I love when he uses the Wisdom of Solomon for the cleverest application of his powers.
  • I got to see Panda die... again.
  • Finally, an explanation of why Batman supported him in the League.... .
  • Arm-Fall-Off-Boy saves the Legion from Starfinger. Single-handedly.
  • Gail; thanks for the severed head display!!!
  • "Take me to your leader." Clark Kent is a funny person.
  • It's so good to see Michelle again!
  • It's also good to see Gangbuster again. Never though we would.
  • The Penguin's scrapbook.
  • If the House of the Mystery serves that spread for breakfast, why would anyone ever try to leave? Sounds like an endless stay at the Doubletree.
  • "And we'd have milk everywhere." Of course. Hate it when that happens.
  • Geoff Johns' very clever synopses/juxtaposition of Luthor, Superman, Supergirl, and Brainiac. I now understand them all a bit better, and, in typical Johnsian fashion it was accomplished in about two panels.
  • Using the Joker as a Crypt-Keeperesque series interlocutor? Genius.
  • Wouldn't the 7 Deadly Evils make a great tiki glass set?
  • "No, really: you look great." Catwoman is a funny person.
  • Tom versus the Gorillas.
  • That is not how I expected the Atom to end... .
  • Hey, that was the most fun I've ever had without the Joker killing somebody! This Joker's Asylum mini is way better than anyone expected.
  • Superman shaving.
  • "You'd spend it." Skeet is a funny person. Well, funny machine, anyway.
  • Okay, I'll admit that my first reaction to "High-Energy Particle Physics", "Obscure 17th Century French Literature", and "Pre-Columbian Meso-American Burial Practices", was "thank goodness, something I have a chance at answering correctly, unlike 'Baseball' or 'Song Lyrics'..."
  • Mr. Batson flirting with Amelia.
  • Of course she doesn't have a make-up drawer!
  • Of course Batman figured it out. And kept it quiet. For years. He does things like that.
  • Atom tracers? Starro iodine? Ray Palmer is so freaking cool... .
  • Ah, the three-way version of Truth/Justice/&theAmericanWay. Very well done!
  • Ye gods, that was a great Penguin story! Thank you, Jason Aaron!

I'd buy it. I can't remember if Gluttony was one of the 7 Deadly Evils in the Shazam stories, but I'd always use that glass when my wife makes salsa bake.

I laughed and laughed. Scipio is a funny person.

Yes, Skeets SHOULD wear a beret. And Rip Hunter is even more interesting that I had thought.

And a compassionate Batman! Who knew?

Nemesis vs the gorillas. You knew it had to happen.

Batman was one big old softie this week between Requiem and Booster Gold.

"Luke Cage owes me ten bucks."

Some say history will change in DC this January, when the first African-American President is sworn in. I say it's happening in DC right now: Scipio is reading Marvel!!!

When aI saw the Luke Cage comment, my first thought was you should steal a Fantasticar and break into his house to get back your money...honey.

So if Booster Gold is the Dad, who's the Mom? Barbara Gordon? Lana Lang? (It has to be someone human and not metahuman, right?)

For Booster's mom? Well, the only currently recurring DC character he's been known to date was Cameron Chase, but I could be wrong.

I think it might be more fun to pair him up with someone from the Legion Of Superheroes. But who?

Or you could have it be someone from the past- like Cinnamon.

Or he could be bi, and wind up raising a child with The Rainbow Raider.

That Rip Hunter is a crafty one, seeking out someone in Booster's family tree rather than putting on the Supernova costume himself. He has good reason to conceal his identity, and I have to give him this much: I never suspected for a second that he was a Carter.

And yes, gotta love how Geoff Johns inserted a minor, apparently inconsequential detail (the retconned-in photos) that Booster's future eventually hinged on. That's a terrific example of the writer being 100% fair with the reader.

Yup, that's what I'll miss about the Katz/Johns run on Booster: there clearly was a plan. I wish they hadn't screwed up that wee detail in their last ish -- DC One Million is a million months, not years, in the future -- but other than that it was a great ride.

Arm-Fall-Off-Boy showed up again? I am filled with glee, and must get to the comic shop tomorrow. :D

I didn't think that was how the Atom was going to end either.

It would be nice if Didio would correct his mistakes, and undo all those dreadful OYL changes...

I've always thought it was a little convenient that Booster and Rip looked so alike. In Booster's original series, Rip was an employee of BGI and I remember having a hard time telling them apart when in civvies. It wasn't until 52 that Rip got the hair color makeover.

And my money is on Bea being Rip's mother...there seemed to be an underlying connection there the last few years.

Didn't the Killing Joke come out in 88 and Booster joined the league in 87? I don't think that he dated Cameron Chase, wasn't it Firehawk or something? Poor guy hasn't had a real onpanel romance unless you include Ted. Which many do. ;)

After all Batman/Booster have been through over the years I loved seeing Batman show him such respect again. It's a nice nod to when he joined JLI, the handshake, the smile and words of approval. It even has an Omac Project moment:

"He'd have to admit he was wrong first."

"You proved me wrong." Great stuff.
