How Much Do I Hate Ralph Dibney?

This much.

Ralph and Sue as jet-setting detectives could be fun. He'd have to lose his stretchy powers for this to work, though. He could maybe trade on his former superhero status, but would otherwise have no more power than, say, MacMillan and wife.

This wouldn't make Ralph any less annoying, but at least nobody would grant him any deference because of his powers.

The Dibnys are a couple of freaks.

Even the Langstroms avoid them.

THAT made me laugh.

That's already been done, though. WITH his powers. You may have already known that, of course -- in which case, my sincere apologies -- but your choice of words implied that you didn't, so here I am. I just enjoy being helpful when feasible, that's all. :-)

completely unrelated question to Scipio:

Statement: "I'd be interested in reading your thoughts on the finale episode of "Riverdale."

Did that statement qualify as a "request," which you have made it clear that you despise receiving with the fury of perhaps a dozen suns? If so, my apologies. Thanks for your time. Take care.

True enough! But because he has his powers, the stories are done as a superhero story with detective elements. Like, whenever the story hits a complication, how does Ralph get out of it? Not with his detectiveness, but with his stretchy powers. I'm saying, ditch the powers so that Ralph and Sue have to get by on charm, intelligence, and running like hell as required.

Over 15 years ago, Ralph had his crowning moment of cool (write your own punchline). This was in the "52" comic, after Sue had been murdered and Ralph was without his powers, trying to deal with ... I can't even remember the details. I know there was a whole thing about trying to bring Sue back to life. But near the end of 52 was the big reveal that Felix Faust was behind it all ... and that Ralph had figured that out ages ago, because he picked up Faust's fingerprints on a letter.

I have none.

I tend to think of the ability to handle the Dibneys as the litmus test of any era of DC. If Ralph Dibney, the World Famous Elongated Man, cannot exist in your version of the DCU, it is not truly the DCU. I would love to see a "Ralph & Sue Dibney, World-Famous Consulting Detectives" series, but I miss the actual DETECTIVES in DC.
