The Ballad of Barry Allen

Because there's not enough superhero music in the world, we wanted you to know about The Ballad of Barry Allen, by the band Jim's Big Ego. It's a pleasant song with great lyrics, whose creator (Carmine Infantino's nephew Jim), is probably pretty familiar with Barry Allen.

You can listen to an excerpt on-line, pay to download the whole thing, or buy the CD it's on so you can enjoy the cover art by Carmine himself.

Guided By Voices (a great, real, band -- with a distributor and everything!) has a song called Matter-Eater Lad. Only released on a 1993 7" called Clown Prince of the Menthol Trailer, and a big crowd favorite played live.

You probably know all about XTC's "That's Really Super,Supergirl" and "Braniac's Daughter" which they sang in their guise as the Dukes of Stratosphear.

I knew only of "Brainiac's Daughter"! I shall look for the others as well.

It will help on my new secret project...

"That's Really Super, Supergirl" is actually an official XTC song, not a Dukes song. It's on "Skylarking."

The Ballad of Barry Allen can now be heard (in rotation) on Superhero Radio!

Jim's Big Ego is a great band and I highly encourage anyone who enjoys "The Ballad of Barry Allen" to buy not only the album, but the band's other albums, as well.

And the Carmine Infantino cover art is pretty sweet, too.

And from my interaction with them, I can add that they are great guys, too, Benari!
