Batman sounds absolutely hideous, but I will have to try the Mighty Martian this weekend...
This is, without question, the best feature I have ever seen on a comics blog.
Ever.
Thanks, Patrick.
I myself cannot drink; allergic to alcohol. So you'll have to let me know your own ratings of these drinks.
I think you can also submit drinks to that website, so if you like, you can come up with your OWN superhero drinks.
Where in the world did that picture of the Flash come from? Is it from 'Legend of the Superheroes'?
I think there may have been a misprint. The Batman is, in fact, the following:
Take 1 flute expensive champagne.
Pretend to sip from said flute.
Surreptitiously pour contents of said flute into closest plant.
Ascertain that the super-criminal you are pursuing may, in fact, be the new-in-town guest of honor at the high-society charity event you are currently attending.
Repeat.
(I have been known to drain a drink and then mutter under my breath "Bottom's up, plant", due to my acute Batman envy.)
The Justice League has only spawned girlie drinks. Melon liqueur has a way of emasculating alcool in the worst way.
Suggestions? Sure.
The Hellblazer: Tall pint of stout with a cigarette butt hidden at the bottom.
Add melon liqueur to make it a Zatanna.
Awww...Flash looks so cute, sleeping his off.
The Aquaman, of course, would be mineral water, on the rocks.
The key to enjoying the Green Lantern is that it must be served in a large yellow stein.
Between sips, the bartender clouts you on the head with the stein.
Brilliant, Scipio.
My reaction upon reading this post:
"hmm drink recipes, interesting. It's too bad I can't drink....OMG WTF IS WITH THE FLASH!"
I then blacked out and woke up hoping it was a dream until I saw the pic again and I just laughed.
Oh man...that's a priceless pic right there!
The Gingold:
1/3 gin
1/3 Goldschläger®
1/3 Coca-Cola®
Mix well, serve in a hip flask.
... actually, that sounds terrible. No wonder only Ralph can drink it.
My Green Lantern recipe has always been one bucket of scotch and a crazy straw. Serve directly in a toilet, so as to cut out the middleman.
The Iron Man is deceptively similar, actually - you just substitute a more expensive bucket.
Speaking as a confirmed Girl Drink Drunk (I only drink cocktails that taste like candy) my experience suggests that the Mighty Martian and Green Lantern would have the most real world appeal. I would also sample the Wonder Woman, but I suspect it would lose serious points for being a layered--rather than a mixed--drink (which tend to look far better than they taste). The Flash Cola might be good, but I'm not a huge brandy fan so I wouldn't jump at trying it. As for the Superman and Batman drinks--they appear to be specifically designed to make me cringe. And, beyond the fact that I think it would taste bad, I'm opposed to the Superman since it is essentially a sweetened Martini and I can't see our Man of Steel drinking anything but a cocktail whose main ingredient is milk (a Brown Cow or Monkey's Lunch for example). Actually, I think the perfect drink for Superman would be 1 oz Creme de Menthe and 3 oz milk. He could call it his Minty Kryptonite.
And if anyone would care to tell me what a Pseudo-Maximus is, I would be much appreciative.
Sounds like I need to start a contest or two to create the best Superman hero drink...
I'll put that on my agenda.
Pseudo-Maximi are the duplicates of the real Maximus, a one-shot villain (WW225) to tried to suck the mojo out of Wonder Woman and inject it into his duplicates to give them great charisma as part of world domination plot.
Yes. Really.
