Things That Made Me Happy

... in my comics this week.

  • I always said Todd was well-rounded.
  • Superman is full, of, well, action. And lots of scenes.
  • I'm impressed she took the time to have the razor blade personalized.
  • Wonder Woman is a racist who only talks to white animals. What about Mammals of Color, huh?
  • Crabby King Chimera; has he met Zatara?
  • Zatara's suprising new old assistant.
  • "How do you think I'd look in a trenchcoat?"
  • Alice goes Demosthenes one better!
  • Roulette's opponent at cards.
  • The Mad Mod's makeover!
  • Can't wrap... head ... around ... Dr. Light + Guardian...!
  • Detective is so beautiful, I'd buy it even if I couldn't read English.
  • That's Atlas's boss? Uh-oh.
  • Miss Martian's three-inch heels.
  • "These boots seem completely impractical in a combat situation."
  • All-American Kid.
  • Heh. Steel must have learned that one from the Joker.
  • Wow; finally, a team the JSA doesn't simply overwhelm.
  • Atlas is evil... but really hot.
  • Kids; they always wind up stabbing you in the back.
  • Black Canary's Fun Closet. Yeah, I am so sure that stuff is for "undercover" work. More like "under covers".
  • Aquagirl to the rescue!
  • Tellus and Sodam.
  • I could watch Batwoman kick ass all day.
  • Zatara's big hat.
  • Abe Lincoln gets take-out.
  • I very much enjoy the swoopy thing, too.
  • Wait, did Black Canary just call Wonder Woman a lesbian? Snort.
  • Steel getting punched through not one, but two panel borders.
  • I love the fact that Alice is basically a nut with a gun. I just love Gotham City.
  • The Royal Flush Gang. Really, it doesn't matter what they're doing, because they are the Royal Flush Gang. But they are doing just what they are supposed to.
  • Dog versus Question.
  • Mark Merlin!?

Holy cats! Where was Mark Merlin?

And didn't he die in the sub-world of Ka in 1965?

The new team on Justice Society sure hit the ground running, didn't they?

And the new team on Justice League did such a good job, I'm sorry they're only the interim new team.

They did. Although Willingham seemed a tad off on some of the characterization.

Mr. Terrific, a sucker?
And even moron Courtney should know that Obsidian would have zero interest in watching her take a shower.

Typical teenager, Courtney. It isn't ALWAYS about YOU.

Half of my books didn't even come in, and I won't get them till Friday, but what DID come in was nice.

Oh, and the apes are back in Wonder Woman. I like Tollifer.

Of COURSE Dinah would have a closet like that.

More and more I am thinking of dropping Superman and
Action. They're too reminiscent of the worst parts of Countdown - the "tentpole" thing that DiDio was talking about - scenes that do nothing but set up stories in other titles...

The best part of the week was the Olympian in B&B.

Scipio, that was my thought too about Courtney and Obsidian, but I think any teenage girl would be skeeved out at the thought of anyone watching her in the shower, whether they were sexually interested or not.
Or maybe Len Wein totally forgot that Obsidian isn't into girls...

No "Lantern Ermie"? I thought that would be a lock.

I liked seeing Mr T being less than T, I get sick of his Mary Sueness.

Yeah, what was the deal? I'm used to Superman being about multiple stories, but this issue felt really disjointed.

And unfinished. There were lots of captions saying the story would be continued elsewhere.

Detective is so beautiful, I'd buy it even if I couldn't read English.

Ooo, I know. I bought the reprint of the last issue this week just for the new cover. I never do that, but it was so pretty...

I need help with these...

"How do you think I'd look in a trenchcoat?"

The Mad Mod's makeover!

I very much enjoy the swoopy thing, too.

The last three are from the same comic, Brave and the Bold #7:

The best part of "Wonder Woman" was Thomas Oscar Morrow -- he recognizes that Wonder Woman has always treated him with dignity, and is therefore inclined to help her as he can. (Also, that he wasn't really born "Thomas Oscar Morrow" because that was always kind of dumb.)

Several months ago, Scipio posted a thread that showed just how realistic some of these "unrealistic" comic book names are. There were even some actual Edward Nigmas and Orm Currys in the USA!
