Citizens! A school teacher needs your help!
My friend Travis Greenlee is a civics teacher who's using superheroes as a way to teach civic responsibility to the young. How very laudable!
His "Citizen Superhero" project is in its infancy and could use some babysitting.
1. If you are a teacher or know a teacher who might be interested in Travis's project, please contact Travis.
2. Check out Travis's blog, Citizen Supehero, and add it to your feeds.
3. Travis needs as many superhero quotes as you can give him, quotes wherein heroes talk about responsibility, and society, and why they do what they do. Travis is not as well-versed in comics as you are; please harness your expertise to his efforts.

"There is good and evil in the universe and its not hard to tell the difference."
oh thats from the Big Blue S
All I can think of right now is... "Always expect the unexpected." Maybe that only helps in Skartaris.
"Death To Spies in America!"

"Fortune Favors the Bold" - Flaming Carrot
"There's No Need to Fear - Underdog is Here!"
Paralax: You're weak. You're scared. Give up now. Give up.
Hal: I...
Paralax: Give up, damn you.
Hal: I don't know how.

"On Olympus we measure wisdom against Athena... speed against Hermes... power against Zeus. But we measure courage... against Captain America."
- Hercules in Captain America #444.
Batman: "People think it's an obsession. A compulsion. As if there were an irresistible impulse to act. Its never been like that. I chose this life. I know what I'm doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it.
Today, however, isn't that day. And tomorrow won't be either."

If you're from this earth it can't be perfect, because a perfect earth doesn't need a Superman.

"I couldn't think of one clever way to stop this guy, so I just trusted to mindless violence."

"Surrender? Surrender?! You think this letter on my head stands for France?!"
-Ultimate Captain America
Catwoman: You've studied Superman, haven't you?
Batman: He's the best at what he does.
Catwoman: That's open to debate.
Batman: I said, he's the best at what he does. Not at what I do.

The Question: So, I'm done learning?
Richard Dragon: No. You'll be done learning about five minutes after you're dead.
Tim: You have to rest, you just died!
Bruce: I was only CLINICALLY dead...
Tim: Alfred, talk to him.
Alfred: I believe I can't Master Tim. The man actually made a distinction between mortal and clinical death as an argument.

Batman: (Talking about being on Apokolips)
I don't belong here. My place is in Gotham City. Where my parents were murdered in the streets.
Darkseid: Well Played. Had the Kryptonian or the Amazon taken this gamble, they would have lost. They don’t have the strength of character it would take to destroy an entire planet to achieve success. But...you. A human. You kill your own kind to win battles.
Batman: I think we can take them. Do you think we can take them?
Superman: You always think we can take them.
Batman: You're right. I do.
Superman: Then let's take them.
- Superman/Batman: Public Enemies
Wonder girl: ...wait a second... you just LIED to STARFIRE?!
Robin: I lie to BATMAN.
I did once consider resigning from my position in the Wayne Household. "I need a disguise" he said, and I thought he'd finally gone mad with grief especially those next words... "I shall become a Bat".
But when I saw what he meant, when I watched how he surrendered himself to an ideal. How he used each heartache and failure, to become a better man, in the service of others.
What could I do but stand in humble awe? And keep his wounds clean and his uniform tidy and send him safely on his way.
"Alfred" he said not long ago. "If anyone asks for an obituary, tell them Batman's big secret was the classic whodunnit. Only, it’s not about who killed Batman but who kept him alive all these years." And he stopped there, leaving the rest to me.
The Whereabouts of Batman remain unknown. And yes I can see him now, in the grip of implacable forces, innumerable foes. Somewhere without hope. In a place where all seems lost. And I know this...
The enemy will look away for just a moment, underestimating him for that single fraction of a second too long. And no matter how dark the night...
There will be no hiding place for evil.

"The weed of crime bears bitter fruit" - The Shadow
Dr. McCoy, those are all pretty cool quotes, but I'm just not sure what most of them have to do with civic responsibility. Especially the Robotman one.
