Scipio, as I've said before, I have very little time these days to be on the Internet for pleasure, and this blog was one of the very few sites I visited on a regular basis. I hope the reasons for the hiatus are happy ones and I hope it comes back soon. All the best.
Also wanted to come out of lurk mode to add my compliments. Things that made me happy in comics increased my weekly plesure comic reading quotient by at least twenty five percent. Your eye, wit and fixation on the odd detail made this a regular stop, Hope all is well and you decide to reinstate at some point.
Aw. I'll be sorry not to get my regular Absorbascon installments, but I appreciate life occasionally goes in different directions. All the best, and I'm sure we'll all be here in the future, should you want us...
Man, this is totally my favorite comics blog. Even when it's just making fun of a panel, it always made me happy. Thanks for the hours put in. I have to go and see if there's any days in 07 I haven't read yet.
I'm also saddened to hear of your hiatus, and hope that I will one day be able to read your commentary again. Thanks for all the hours of enjoyment you provided.
I will miss you while you're gone, Scipio, and I hope your blog will come back in some form or the other for me to enjoy again. Because I'm selfish that way.
And I see sadly that Big Monkey is going away as well. Best of luck on your hiatus, Scipio; I hope you'll return soon with you usual combo of insightful analysis, sharp commentary and wit, with the occasional classics reference to boot. Oh, and Hal Jordan getting brained by things.
This is really sad news. I'll forever remember how you got hordes of fanboys and girls to give Vibe the respect he deserves. Even with the yellow pants.
I hope you return with a bang some day. The internets needs comics intellectuals such as yourself. The comics blogospehere shall miss your insights and commentary.
Comic books analyzed from a literary perspective. Viewing the characters as mythological archetypes. And respect for Vibe. These are the lessons that Scipio has taught me.
Man, that news really hit me in the gut! Sorry to see your insightful, fun blog go the way of Will Payton, but I hope that it's because of great new things in your life. This blog is the ONLY comics blog on my favorites list. I'm going to keep it there, just in case we see you again.
I never leave commentary on blogs, but the news of the Absorbascon on hiatus made me very sad. I, too, hope things are well with you. I will miss the insight and humor you provided. I hope to see your wit return soon. Comics won't be as enjoyable without you.
I can't believe it. Scipio's on hiatus. How will I survive?
I've been reading this blog as a pick me up at work forever. So sad it is going on hiatus. Best of luck Scipio. Your wit, Vibe love and overall quirky take on panels and the week of comics always made me smile.
Sorry to hear about your hiatus.. and even sorrier to hear about Big Monkey, though I've never had the pleasure of getting there. Good luck to you, Scip.
My best wishes to you. It's been a delight to read your amazingly smart (you may, in fact, be the smartest comic book blogger out there) insight, which constantly made me rethink my positions on many comic book related subjects.
Your "things I loved" segments made me buy more comics than I could count.
I hope it's a temporary hiatus, and I will still check the site to see if you have come back. Meanwhile, good luck and Godspeed.
I will truly miss your razor-sharp wit and analysis coupled with your quirky sense of humor. The Absorbascon has become something I look forward reading to every day. And I can't tell you how many comics I've bought because of "Things that made me happy." Yes, I even subscribed to Super Friends.
I'm very sorry to hear about Big Monkey as well. :(
What?! I miss checking this site for a couple of weeks and come back to find you on hiatus?! Starman saved Shakespeare; surely, he can save the Absorbascon as well!
In all seriousness, thank you Scipio, from the bottom of my heart for the many hours of laughter and enlightenment you have given me. I hope that whatever is keeping you from us is good, or if not, that it passes quickly and easily.
I'm going through Absorbascon withdrawal! Come back and make pithy comments on Black Lanterns! Analyze an old story featuring Nekron giving this story an entirely new perspective. Black Hand! Vibe!
If the new cherry-jello-vomiting, Red Lantern Mera Heroclix figure can't draw Scipio out of retirement, it is truly hopeless. Still miss you, Mr. Darling.

So, wait....Starman saved Shakespeare??
Thus becoming the arch-enemy of every junior high English student in America!!!
I haven't been this disillusioned since I learned that the Earth-Two Batman and Robin saved Ronald Reagan!
By my Halidom, Odd's Bodkins...inDEED!
"I am constant as the northern star,
Of whose true-fix'd and resting quality
There is no fellow in the firmament."
Yes...but remember what happened immediately afterwards to the fellow who said that?
Yes, well, it was dramatic at the very least, wasn't it?

What TotalToyz said. Hope all is well, and we'll miss you till your triumphant return.

Waaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
I believe in the over-dramatic response to impending hiatus-ville.
Absorbascon on hiatus? This makes me very very very sad. Much more sad than it'd be reasonable to expect.

Hiatus? Is that a break in the abdominal wall?
I will miss you while you're gone, Scipio, and I hope your blog will come back in some form or the other for me to enjoy again. Because I'm selfish that way.
In the meantime: have a great time!
I hope everything's all right on your end, Scipio. The Absorbascon has always been a delight.
Thanks for all the hard work and hours you put into writing such an entertaining blog, Scipio. Good luck to you and be well.

Sad news to read on my day off, but I understand. Vale et optima fortuna!

Breakdancing ala Paco in the pale streetlight.
Just wanted to add the throngs of disillusioned youth. Or middle aged comic fans. Same thing really.
This was the first thing I checked each morning, to get my day off right. I appreciate the daily effort you put in for all of us. Thanks Scipio.
Thanks for some wonderful articles, Scipio. Hope to see you back some day!
Comic books analyzed from a literary perspective. Viewing the characters as mythological archetypes. And respect for Vibe. These are the lessons that Scipio has taught me.
I do hope to see you return to the Absorbascon some day, Scipio. This site is a treasure trove of laughs and great ideas.
In the meanwhile, I hope this means that you're moving on to some new projects which will be even greater!
Warm Regards,
Citizen Scribbler
Happy trails and good luck!

First, Robby Reed and now Scipio. Oh, well, there's still the Aquaman Shrine.
All the best, Scipio.

Things That Made Me Happy
... in my comics this week.
*It seems appropriate that hippies are not appreciated in Smallville.
*Roger Hayden is one kinky dude.
*Yes, Ma. On, it is.
(Yes, people, I know it's a sad and pale imitation. Sorry. But then again I only bought one comic book this week.)
The Absorbascon on hiatus? The world of comic blogs has become markedly less "oomphy".
All the best, Scipio.
I miss you Scipio
Dropped by to see if there was any updates. Oh well.
Sad not to read your stuff anymore, Scipio. I guess a lot of people misses you. Take care.
I'm thankful we had The Absorbascon to enjoy; I hope Scipio comes back soon.
Just came by to say hi, and wish you well.
I wonder what you'd think about the recent Black Lantern we found out on this week's JLA...
I'm going through Absorbascon withdrawal! Come back and make pithy comments on Black Lanterns! Analyze an old story featuring Nekron giving this story an entirely new perspective. Black Hand! Vibe!
Hope everything is going well!
Am I the only one who comes back here every 2 - 3 days hoping Scipio is back and it was all just a dream?
you're not the only one
I absolutely do that. Keep wishing that "hiatus" means "vacation." :^(
Still hoping for the best.
Scip,
Whatever you are up to right now, I hope that it is bringing you joy and success.
If the new cherry-jello-vomiting, Red Lantern Mera Heroclix figure can't draw Scipio out of retirement, it is truly hopeless. Still miss you, Mr. Darling.
Justice League Europe #44 has a great hal's head scene on page 12. Poor quality but oh well:

Still missing the Absorbascon.
It's been over seven months. Starting to think Scip ain't coming back. *sniff*
Still missing you, Scipio! Hopefully there'll be an end to this hiatus.
Scipio, RISE.
Hey, it's worth a shot. :)
You're still missed, Scip.
Hope you're doing well!
I still come back once every couple of weeks just in the vain hope that Scip has returned. Sadly, he hasn't. But I'll keep coming back.
Scipio, where are you?
