I'll give it this much, wearing the Robin costume and managing to intimidate people is a pretty good trick.
That said, I feel like I get how one could think the Nightwing costume is trying too hard to be cool. But, maybe the problem (such as it is) is that it's just a good costume? Simple, probably well-suited to nighttime adventuring, doesn't have any goofy elements like the first couple Nightwing costumes did. Maybe the only actual issue is that NIghtwing needs a haircut. The boy detective cracks the case wide open.
I agree that Nightwing's costume is sleek, but my issue is that the Bat-family are gadget heroes, and there's no place to store Batarangs or gas bombs or much of anything in Nightwing's current costume.

If young!Dick thinks his older self needs a haircut these days, he should have seen him in the 90's...
