My single indelible memory of Gerry Conway's work (and I read a TON of it over the years) is that I can remember exactly where I was when I read "The Night Gwen Stacy Died." I remember where I was sitting, what I could see out the window, the couch I was sitting on, everything. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I don't think I've ever had such a vivid memory of reading anything else.
Sad to hear; he was responsible for a lot of my comics in the 70s / 80s. I would have liked him to make it to his 80s at least.
