I kind of appreciate how far out of its way the caption goes to avoid saying that Aquaman shot someone. He pulls the trigger, sure, but who are we to say that the bang or the scream are necessarily results. Correlation isn't always causation.
It's harder to appreciate the use of a gun, when there are so many more creative ways that a man who can tear apart a submarine with his bare hands can kill someone. Talk about lazy...

Between this and Batman snapping a Cossack's neck, I'm beginning to think the Golden Age was not a place for the faint of heart.
