Hm. Dick Grayson. "Robin". Wears a red, green, and yellow costume. Laughing daredevil. Named after "Robin Hood",
Often stranded. |
Okay; that's easy, then. He's the perfect sidekick for ....
Green Arrow.
Lessee... Arsenal? Troubled past; brooding; monochromatic. Uses everything as a weapon.
Had an illegitimate child. |
Okay clearly then he goes with...
"You'll know you failed this city the second you see me." |
Batman
Great post. Exactly what I'd expect from my sidekick!
ReplyDeleteWasn't there some sort of joke in Teen Titans about how Kid Flash wanted to be codenamed "Speedy" but that one was taken, while Speedy wanted to be called "Robin" but that one was taken...?
ReplyDeleteArynne - I hope that's canon. I like to think they both glared at Dick Grayson, who said: "don't look at me, I wanted to be called Aquaman."
ReplyDeleteTwo jokes for you:
1) A grasshopper walks into a bar. The bartender says "you know we've got a drink named after you", and the grasshopper says, "what, you've got a drink named Steve?"
2) Batman walks into a bar. The bartender says "you know we've got a drink named after you", and Batman says, "what, you've got a drink named Bruce Wayne? ... oh crap."
There was a Hembeck strip (remember those?) in which Green Arrow asked the Flash how it was that he (Green Arrow) got a sidekick named "Speedy" when the Flash didn't.
ReplyDeleteThe Flash: Because if *you* had a sidekick named "Kid Flash," it'd *really* be silly, wouldn't it?"
The Flash walks away.
Green Arrow: "Oh."
Red, yellow, and green costume? Laughing young daredevil? Sensational Character Find of 1940?
ReplyDeleteI thought for a second you were going to pair up Robin with Vibe...
So who gets the monkey? Bat-monkey? Arrow-monkey? Never mind, I answered my own question. I need a Bat-monkey RIGHT NOW.
ReplyDeleteAlso, how did this obviously dark and evil "Batman" character fall into the jumble of heroes and sidekicks?
ReplyDeleteOh, I know- Vibe should have a sidekick names Trembles! He can be a wiry, nervous, shaky little Puerto Rican kid who accidentally causes minor earth tremors. Paco takes under his wing to train him in the use of his powers and to have more joie de vivre.
ReplyDeleteCameron. I think some outcast Marvel writer created him when picked by DC, and aped him off of Midnighter.
ReplyDeleteSo who gets stuck with Aqualad?
