- Why Jonah wears the uniform. Of course; that makes perfect sense.
- Brain stem nannites.
- Krona's... footprints? That's hilarious.
- Bigger Melvin. My god, I almost fainted when I saw Bigger Melvin. He was in the first comic book I ever bought... And the drainpipe/chase sequence couldn't have made me happier.
- Suddenly, the current JLA story is a lot more interesting than I thought it was.
- I just love Lois "Fastlane" Lane, even though I'm obviously not supposed to.
- Imagination is the 5th Dimension.
- You'd think the "cactus in the face" scene would be in Jonah Hex, but it isn't...
- Tatters the Junkyard Sidekick.
- Batman R.I.P is now one issue closer to be over; yay!
- Hal and Ollie beating the snot out of each other.
- "Carol's dead?" Even when he's written wrong, Two-Face is still a great villain.
- Loved seeing Grant Morrison's Yellow Alien being exposed.
- Cameron's unexpected news.
- Dinah beating the snot out of Hal and Ollie.
- Okay, even though it didn't do anything but sit there, just know that there's a robot dog in Manhunter makes me happy.
- Ha, very clever; Bruce Wayne does what Batman mustn't.
- "Ya can die now." God, I love that man.

Things That Made Me Happy....
in my comics this week.
I like Lois Fastlane, but loving her was impeded by the sense that suddenly I was rereading The Nail.
ReplyDeleteBut isn't it odd that there's not reporting of that quality on superhumans in the regular DCU?
Sorry, still not seeing what's interesting in JLA, other than one none-too-soon departure.
Yeah, Dinah's takedown of the goober twins was fun, but it's still a terrible story in a terrible book.
Imagination indeed! But you seem to have understood more of what went on in that book than I did.
Hal and Ollie beating each other up ALWAYS makes me giggle. And it only took Ollie five minutes to call Hal a Nazi!
ReplyDeleteRobot dogs are always nice. Gosh, I love Manhunter. Now if only Dylan is ok.
Jonah Hex was pretty fabulous even without a cactus. Boy howdy, that man is cranky.
Where were Hal and Ollie beating one another?
ReplyDeleteAnd why does Jonah wear the uniform?
Hal and Ollie threw down in DC Universe: Decisions.
ReplyDeleteOllie's probably only lucky Hawkman wasn't present...
Batman R.I.P is now one issue closer to be over; yay!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for this to be over with...what a waste of money...would have just been fine if it didn't crossover and waste more money.
What's everyone got against RIP? I've been loving the shit out of it. Bat-Mite's response to Batman's final question was brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWell I think my main complaint is the crossover into the other titles that I don't read but ended up buying so I could following along and having those title really only have a vague mention of what is going on in the main title. Except Robin...Robin is about the only one that really tied into it...except now the Outsiders could be as well. Once this is over...I am dropping Batmand, Detective, and Outsiders...I think it will be a while before I pick up those titles again. Morrison is not my favorite either...which could be my lack of excitement with this.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I don't read any of the other Batman titles, so having R.I.P. cross over into Batman and the Outsiders for two issues is a waste of time and money for me.
ReplyDeleteI was interested to see two alternate/temporary/variation DC universes spring into being this week: the Universe of the Anti-Trinity in Trinity, and the Universe Where Ocean Master Joins the JLA in Justice League of America. Hmm, when the "core" DCU gets splintered at exactly the same time into two separate realities, what happens when the wave forms from those two universes collide? (My son suggested "Crisis.")
Justice League of America has been pretty but pointless for 2 years now. The Trinity deliberate ponderously over who should be in the new League, then go with the New Avengers approach: "Hey, anyone who shows up for the first adventure can join the team." Then Amazo takes over the Red Tornado, twice, and the West African Spider God is revealed as the supreme arbiter of reality. Plus Red Arrow and Hawkgirl get some sack time, and the World's Greatest Heroes do EXACTLY NOTHING to bring Black Adam or Superboy-Prime to justice, or prevent the rise of Darkseid, or avenge the death of the Martian Manhunter, or. . .
Justice League of Amateurs, in my opinion.
But I'll end on an up note: Decisions has been better, considerably better, than I anticipated. And I am very happy that the Manhunter series is back.
Flipping through some alumni magazine I got in the mail, I did a double take when I discovered that, back in the fifties, my university had been attended by one Joseph Coyne. He would go on to become the spokesman for the Federal Reserve Board... It's good to know he was able to give up his life of crime.
ReplyDeleteNot exactly a comic book, but it was my favorite comics related reading moment because I had one of those experiences Scipio mentioned recently when reality appears to overlap with the DCU.

Yeah, it's just amazing that for more than two years, essentially nothing has happened in JLA besides Red Tornado going through two more iterations of the only plotline he ever has, Vixen's powers screwing up, and Speedy and Hawkgirl hooking up. They were bystanders to the Lightning Saga, more or less; they failed to find the Salvation Run planet; they avoided getting killed by the Injustice Gang.
ReplyDeleteIn 25 issues have they ever once, y'know, saved the world, the way they did every issue in the Silver Age and every arc under Morrison? Isn't that the point of the JLA?
"Once this is over...I am dropping Batmand, Detective, and Outsiders...I think it will be a while before I pick up those titles again"
ReplyDeleteIsn't that backwards? I don't know why people stick with a BAD story then drop a book. You should stop reading the BAD story then start reading the books again after it's over...
Oh I have a big problem, no matter how bad a storyline is...I have to finish it. I do that with normal books too. I can't just stop and or stop and go back...I need to know the ending, even if it is bad.
ReplyDeleteOh and thanks for pointing out my typo LOLOL Batmand :)
I know...call me a freak.
"Well I think my main complaint is the crossover into the other titles that I don't read but ended up buying"
ReplyDelete"On the other hand, I don't read any of the other Batman titles, so having R.I.P. cross over into Batman and the Outsiders for two issues is a waste of time and money for me."
So just don't buy the extra books. The main RIP story stays within the main Batbook. There won't be any big, important plot points in anything else. Most of the time it's just going to be...
"those title really only have a vague mention of what is going on in the main title."
"Oh I have a big problem, no matter how bad a storyline is...I have to finish it. I do that with normal books too. I can't just stop and or stop and go back...I need to know the ending, even if it is bad."
You should probably do something about that.
I think that they should change the name of the book to "Jonah Freaking Hex".
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying
I wasn't clear in my posting. . .I read Batman and the Outsiders on a regular basis, but none of the other Batman-family titles. So having R.I.P. intrude into this title, with the Outsiders wondering where Batman is and mumbling about something called "The Black Glove," is irksome. The Outsiders have survived without Batman in the past, so if he's really gone, fine, bring back the Eradicator or Faust to take his place, and get on with things.
ReplyDeleteN.W. "Once this is over...I am dropping Batmand, Detective, and Outsiders"
ReplyDeleteOh you know what will happen then? After you've suffered through all the issues you didn't like, then dropped the titles? That's when the good stuff will start. It's like a cosmic law.
