in my comics this week.
Tovar the Lava King, who is the Sensational Character Find of 2007. Read Blue Beetle, people.
The Return of Bat-Mite (oh, and for those of you too young to remember: Zur En Arrh).
Animal Man is apparently so cool that he can use solar panels to reflect sunlight rather than absorb it. Amazing!
Fat Zatanna. I love you, Fat-anna.
Of course, it's always good to see Jean Loring...
Batman slapping Snapper Carr in the face. Even better is why Batman slapped Snapper Carr in the face. Brad Meltzer, look out!
The Red Bee begins her takeover of the world. Excellent.
Challenger-Lady seeing herself in print. Creepy. Meta-creepy.
Hal Jordan making whoopee in a green bubble in mid-air, while at work. And you people think he's stupid!
Hawkman and the Atom, together again for the first time.
Jaime Reyes' father staring down armed goons with nothing but his balls o' pure steel. Read Blue Beetle, people.
Uncle Sam's one-page backstory Young Jonny Reb and Billy Yank? Fascinating.
"The Arkham Institute for Emotional Disorders." Heh.
Biting a mummy? Never would have occurred to me.
Does anyone else wish they had Mr Reyes for a dad? Because after this issue, I do.
ReplyDeleteHal Jordan did the whoopee with Power Girl inside a green bubble while being pummeled by soundwaves from Sonar in the old Justice League Europe series. AND he had amnesia. Talk about a REAL ladies-man.
ReplyDeleteLet's see, after a battle, Hal makes whoopee, Guy gets bombed with Kilowog, Kyle paints, and John goes and sits on a rock. Who do YOU think is enjoying themselves the most?
ReplyDeleteHowever, I MISSED Batman slapping Snapper Carr, and I am depressed, because of all things, seeing Snapper Carr get slapped would thrill me to my little toes.
And yes, Blue Beetle is awesome...squared.
You know what the best part about Hal's Emerald Love Bubble is? It was revealed some time ago that power rings are constantly recording images of events around them, and periodically broadcasting them back to Oa for future retrieval. What I'm saying is, Hal videotaped the whole thing and is probably going to invite the other GLs over to watch it with him.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but he never actually hit a home run with Power Girl.
ReplyDeleteThere are superhero comic book fans who AREN'T reading Blue Beetle? That is some kind of contradiction like "honest lawyer" or "civil war" isn't it?
ReplyDeleteBlue Beetle is just about the best superhero comic out there right now.
That scene with Batman slapping Snapper Carr made my week.
