Things That Made Me Happy

... in my comics this week.

• Dazzler wasn't in any of them!
• Mary Marvel mouthing off to Darkseid.
• "Hold for your mother." I love phone operator humor.
• Finally, a sensible design for Titan's HQ.
• Well, that is certainly not something I expected Rip Hunter to plan on fixing! I wonder what "the feminist blogger hive-mind" will think of that?
• She gnawed it with her teeth? Now that's a hobby.
• "They don't. They just convince themselves they do." Cynical words of wisdom from Donna Troy!
• Heh; the Joker knows that comedy is all in the timing.
• "When I get home, I hope I meet the real Aquaman!" Hey, me too!
• Oh, Earth-15; we hardly knew ye.
• Wonder Woman's gorilla houseguests.
• Does women's hair really do that after a shower, or is it just Hawk's?
• "Who Will Die?" Really, isn't that the plot of every Teen Titans story?
• I have always loved Lagoon Boy.
• The Return of Etta Candy.
• Themyscira's new tenants; yet more proof of Gail Simone's genius.
• I really liked Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman this week.

1. By "Themyscira's new tenants" I presume you mean the folks in the cells. Who were they? I'm not up on my Wonder Woman herstory, however thanks to your blog I do know who Etta Candy is.

2. No, I don't mean the folks at the beginning of the story.

I mean the folks at the end of the story... .

3. Hah! Finally, I'm caught up enough to recognize 90% of your list.

I'd add:

* "Somehow I feel like I've been turned into a puppet"

* Maximillian. I wonder what the age cutoff on that joke is?

4. I thought Superman was immune to Kryptonite in All Star after that trip to the sun? Still a great book but I guess even Morrison forgets little details for books that take over two years to get to issue nine...

5. I think they are going to save Ted Kord and Barbara Gordon, but neither will return to the mainstream continuity. Both will live on with Rip Hunter and become the new Time Masters. Babs will still be paralyzed in normal continuity.

6. Good thing you don't read X-Men: Die By the Sword, what with its inclusion of Dazzler.

7. Have I mentioned how much I look forward to these every week? Especially this week; I want to comment on darn near every bullet.

For your sake, I'll limit myself to three.

"Mary Marvel mouthing off to Darkseid."

She should have known better than to attack him directly. What she should have done is transform his palace and the surrounding area into cutesy candyland.

How would that be for ironic punishment?

"Finally, a sensible design for Titan's HQ."

Littered with the corpses of teenage superheroes?

"Well, that is certainly not something I expected Rip Hunter to plan on fixing! I wonder what "the feminist blogger hive-mind" will think of that?"

I'm looking forward to reading about this. On the one hand, Babs is much more interesting as Oracle than she was as Batgirl. On the other, Rip said she'd become chairperson of the JLA if the Joker hadn't shot her.

Technically, nothing she's accomplished as Oracle is anything she couldn't do if she could walk. But would she. The tragedy is what made her become Oracle.

... man, I can't wait until Booster Gold comes out again.

Silly boy! That's not design, that's decor.

9. I'm trying to decide which I loved most - The Flash preaching against excessive alcohol consumption or Rip Hunter's "Your ass is mine."

Or maybe it was "I shall brag about it to all my robot friends." ;-D

You poor thing -- imagining things that don't exist.

11. Actually, that's a quote from another blog ("Big Mike").

I think that was addressed in the story, actually.

Anyway, not a bad week. All-Star Superman and Wonder Woman were pretty entertaining. As for Titans East... not sure I like the decor ;)
