Have you ever heard the song "You're A Superman"?
No, you haven't. No one has. But at least we know what the lyrics are from this Golden Age Superman story.
If anyone wants to set these lyrics to music, perform, and record them, I'd be delighted to put the resultant song on Big Monkey Comics radio, where it will be heard by about 100 comic book fans a day.
Give it a try!
At least a couple of the verses are in haiku:
ReplyDeletePanel 40:
You're a Superman
But I'm the one gal who kin
Get under your skin
Panel 43:
You're a Superman
And when you spring to me, I
Am in ecstasy
Are there any rights issues associated recording these lyrics? I'd supose that they're copyright someone...
ReplyDelete60 years later? I wouldn't worry about that.
ReplyDeleteI would. Copyright lasts until 70 years after the death of the copyright holder, and in this case the copyright holder is the deathless DC Comics and their international syndicate backer, the Warner Bros.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, if you are not making any money out of it, Fair Use Laws and parody protections should protect your ass from angry lawyers. Just don't try to go platnum with it or anything.
Just don't try to go platnum with it or anything.
ReplyDeleteDammit! Chu just lost me there. No deal now.
Scipio,
ReplyDeleteI'm on it. I think I can whip something decent up, with a semi-Techno feel. Give me a day or two.
(I'm trying to work on a melody, but the meter of the lyrics is all over the place. Ah well, nobody said it would be easy.)
Cheers,
Roel
