Date Night Discussion

Okay! It's Friday night, and here's a gift for us all comic book folks without dates tonight:

a photo of Black Canary and Hawkman chained to an autolift.

My! If you don't find something in that to interest you, then you're either a verdesexual, like Ariel, or dangerously disturbed, like Devon.

Which leads me to an odd "date night" question:

which DC characters need to date each other, and why?

It never fails. We're playing clix on a Monday night and while my beer-guzzling companions are having Fury and Solomon Grundy slug it out, I put down my teacup and pipe up cheerily, "You know, they really should date."

Yeah, well, if you think I'm weird, what about the people who make / buy the nude clix repaints on Ebay? Now that's dangerously disturbed....

  2. Nude clix repaints. No freakin' way.

Does that come in Beast Boy or Brainy?

Lady Shiva & Robin. Why? Robin admires Shiva's knowledge and Shiva? Shiva's depraved enough to try to strike at Bats in this way. What will make an interesting story is that both end up caring for each other.

Superboy & Robin Oh come on. They both have the man crush on each other going on. It'd be a real coming of age moment. (snort, snicker).

Black Canary & Robin. More a one night stand kind of thing. It's not without precedent: she's bagged a barely out of his teens guy before (The Ray, who was 19 at the time).
Dinah loves playing teacher. Robin loves being a student. Go to the head of the class!

  3. For those who don't know, that vidcap posted by Scipio is from a 1979 TV special called "Legends of the Super-Heroes"! This thing needs to get released on DVD, yesterday!! How can ya not love Mordru, deadliest foe of the Legion of Super-Heroes, singing "That's Entertainment"??

  4. I own it on video. No, it doesn't.

  5. Powergirl and Nemesis. Considering how many times writers bump off Nemesis only to have another writer bring him back, I think he can keep up with Powergirl's changing history.

  6. Have to go with Devon on that one, Dale. In fact the only reason I'm no longer a billionaire playboy is that I donated by family's vast fortune to The Society for Preserving the Sanctity of Comic Books Through the Purchase and Destruction of All Remaining Copies of the Legends of the SuperHeroes.

  7. Actually, I prefer my Mordru water-skiing. Been tempted to have him clix modded with waterskis, give him a Dolphin Speed symbol.

  8. Well, I love LotSH for what it is: a parody. Do I think it's an accurate representation of comic-book super-heroes? Hell no! Neither do I think Scrubs is an accurate representation of a hospital (at least I hope not), but I enjoy it for what it is.

  9. I've got a bootleg of this. The horror. The horror. Though Afro Man is pretty cool. DC needs to introduce him into DC continuity.

  10. Is LotSH anything like the Justice League of America pilot?

    Green...half-naked...David Ogden Stiers...shudder.

  11. Nah. LotSH is an intentional comedy, as opposed to the Justice League pilot which was unintentionally funny.
