Heroclix Custom of the Week: The Giant Robot Bear

This is second in our series showcasing custom figures that I cobble together to add to my Heroclix games.  Last week, we featured Ollie Queen's ridiculous Arrowcar.  How do you outdo the ridiculousness of Green Arrow?  By visiting the Martian Manhunter in Apex City, of course, which brings us to THE GIANT ROBOT BEAR (as seen in the classic Detective Comics #306 tale, "The Last Days of J'onn J'onzz")

Picking a dial and a sculpt for the Giant Robot Bear was easy, because Yugio (always a font of ridiculousness) already has a giant bear figure (Figure #ygo011 Mother Grizzly), which I simply painted brown.

The real question is, will I ever go to the lengths of making custom Heroclix figures of the Giant Robot Crocodile, Giant Robot Buzzard, Giant Robot Gorilla, Giant Robot Elephant, or Giant Robot Rhino (not pictured)?

Have you done the robot T-Rex in the Bat-Cave?

  2. How about a figure of Green-Hatted Exposition Man, the unsung hero of Apex City? Without him, we'd have no idea what was happening in that sequence!

  3. A propos of nothing. I doubt that it has much to do with Heroclix... unless as it might serve as a challenge.

I have read, I think, that Diana Prince once left her career in the military, in order to be a journalist. To be specific, she wrote advice to the lovelorn.

That seems very much more a "Marvel" thing for a heroine to do than a DC thing and, of course, I would appreciate any thoughts or memories you might wish to share

  4. Buzzards that are actually kamikaze drones is actually fiendishly smart and advanced.

  5. TO Scipio, having nothing to do with anything : Since you love to complain and you hate the vast majority of the Archie comic book oeuvre, have you considered articles complaining about Archie from the golden age forward? Because it occurred to me that particular piece of the puzzle of your psyche is very under-represented but I'm sure it's as interesting as the rest. ;-)

  6. Why would crooks use a giant mechanical animal costume to rob banks when the damn thing probably cost more than they could get from robbing dozens of banks? My guess is that there is a guy like Gambi the Tailor, except he builds ridiculous gizmos and gadgets for villains. He does it cheap, either because he is an eccentric billionaire or his superpowers are to build the stuff from scrap parts, and nobody can figure out how it works or duplicate the tech (like Modular Man's creator in the Wild Cards novels).

Because Apex City. If you don't understand THAT, then you don't get to live there.

  10. Konrad; I would suggest using the most recent foursome of Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles, which are designed to be used as a foursome .
