A Perfect Storm

I've never said anything nice about Alex Ross.

Quite the opposite.

But now I will.

Good job, Alex!

Thanks for having the guts to put Aquaman on the giant sea-horse!

  1. I just want everyone to notice how they subtly worked in the mcguffin from the very first Challenge of the Superfriends episode: Luthor's dream reverberator!

  2. The return of the giant seahorse is only fitting. It's a big part of what makes Aquaman Aquaman: Dude's the sherriff.

    That's why giving him him a city to protect -- Sub Diego, a lawless, hardscrabble, dare I say frontier city -- was such a brilliant move on Pfeiffer's part. It doesn't turn him into Batman with gills, as some have suggested, it turns him into, well, Gary Cooper.

    With gills.

    Mera? Marlene Dietrich in Destry Rides Again.

    Vulko? Gabby Hayes in, well, everything.

    Dolphin? I don't know, some random extra. A chorus girl/hooker, high-kicking and flashing her petticoats in the background.

    Tempest? Bartender, maybe. Or a piany-player.

    Anyway: The horse. I say, welcome back, Storm. You were missed.

  3. Is Tempest the pie-anny player?

    He used to be the Deputy...

  4. Aquaman = Gary Cooper ==>
    Tempest = Lloyd Bridges...

  5. Lately, he's more like Quick Draw McGraw.

    Okay, that's unfair.

    He's more like El Kabong.

    Oh, the new sculpt of Arthur's up on Wizkids. Very nice paint job. The sculpt, however, is delightfully, and unabashedly, fruity. Gayer than the gayest gay to ever gay a gay. Artie looks like a Solid Gold dancer. Half expect to get Andy Gibb and Marilyn McCoo as pogs.

  6. Didn't Jim Lee and Brian Azzarello put him on a seahorse too in their Superman run?

  7. Wow, it's like you died and were replaced with Brian Cronin.
