- Well, that's the first time I've ever cheered for Dr. Light.
- Did you get Legion last week? If not, you missed out on people having sex with parrots!
- "Clearly you both should know better by now." Priceless.
- You do recognize Dr. Teng, don't you?
- So, does she just stand around in Bruce's bedroom waiting all the time, or what?
- Did you get House of Mystery last week? If not, you missed out on people having sex with flies!
- Finding out who Superman's favorite hero was. Of course!
- Wonder Woman and the wolves.
- "Water cooler accident?"
- Roxxas Energy Co.; very nice touch!
- Okay, that's definitely more interesting than the usual monster/alien/demon that Winick uses to prop up his plots when they've stalled... .
- I'm glad they remembered to draw Brainy as a humanoid now.
- "I Spent the Night with Superman."
- The Joker daydreams.
- Usually, Morrison's partially digested regurgitations of manga-staples just make me groan and roll my eyes, but "Shiny Happy Aquazon" makes me smile.
- Wonder Woman calls Beowulf an ugly whore.
- "I watch him go through cycles"; as do we all!
- Bzzd is a great name.
- Catcher's mitt. Of course.
- The Yellow Lanterns decorate their Sciencells

Things That Made Me Happy
in my comics this week.
"Finding out who Superman's favorite hero was. Of course!"
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I thought of you when I read that.
That was a decent Superman story for a fill-in writer and a fill-in artist... with an Alex Ross cover that fit the story. I suspect they had that cover lying around, knew it was too good to waste, and just got someone to write the story based off the cover.
Oh, there was a LOT to be happy about.
ReplyDeleteSo who is Superman's favorite hero? Atticus Finch? Doc Savage? Captain America?
ReplyDeleteHeh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who actually liked Titans (at least the plot). Although the art made Beast Boy look like the lost son of Plastic Man and the Joker.

ReplyDeleteJim Carrey???
Bzzd is a good name for an awesome little character. All the different characters in GL Corps are pretty great though. It's a fun team book, probably the best DC is currently putting out (certainly miles above JLA and Titans).
ReplyDeleteAlso, go Dr Light, go!
I like how Superman didn't have any complaints about Max getting his just desserts this time around. Although I'm normally against such vulgar displays- I was aching for it too.
ReplyDeleteAnd Scipio- I was sadly unable to make it to the NY convention this year. When will the book of Legion essays (featuring one of your own) be available to the general public at all fine book stores and hobby shops?

Wait! "Brainy as a humanoid?" Was there a Legion of Super-Heroes appearance this week that I missed? Info, please.
ReplyDelete"So who is Superman's favorite hero? Atticus Finch? Doc Savage? Captain America?"
ReplyDeleteThe Golden Age Starman. Of course!
"" Was there a Legion of Super-Heroes appearance this week that I missed? "
Not if you buy Legion of SuperHeroes in the 31st Century...

Dadrattit frassin rassin... my FLCS always runs out of LoSHit31C (unfortunate abbreviation, that). I've been resisting the reinstating of my pull list (I'm NOT addicted! I'm not! I just buy one or two or three or 10 comics a week, depending on what grabs me! I can quit at almost any time!), but I may have to just for that one title.
So which of the Things That Made You Happy was/were about Titans? 'Cause I read it, but I didn't twig to any refs in your list.
Also, I have to say I'm also enjoying the Tiny Titans. Clearly, now that I'm 40, I've entered my second childhood and become too immature for mainstream comics...
LoSHit31C (unfortunate abbreviation, that).
ReplyDeleteNo worse than All-Star Squadron, really. (I'm just waiting for the inevitable Federation of Universal Cosmic Knights.)

ReplyDeleteThere's a reason for that.
I think what Mallet interpreted as a Titans reference was actually a Green Arrow/Black Canary reference.
ReplyDeleteYep, I got around to reading GA/BC today and realised my error!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the confusion!
But hey, half my post was correct!
The best moment of the week was Li'l Donna Troy's reaction to Li'l Wil in Tiny Titans. How wude, Donna!
