- Hal Jordan, playing chess. Why, I nearly fell on the floor laughing!
- Starman speaking Interlac, untransliterated. I love Interlac.
- Dolores Winters. I've always loved Dolores Winters.
- Enough corpses to keep the Rolling Head of Pantha busy for years!
- Barry Allen's widow working with the Reverse Flash.
- Billy's clever use of magical administrative access.
- Hawkgirl, pretending to be in the Justice League in JLA, while getting her @$$ kicked by Scandal Savage in Birds of Prey.
- The Great Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six...
- Atom-Smasher's naivety actually made me not-hate him for a moment.
- DC tying up, in single panels, all the loose ends leading up to OYL. Now THAT is old-style pacing!
- The final image of Brave & the Bold 3, which is one of the most unexpected and riveting things I've seen in many a yarn!
- The Bat-snowblower.
- Supergirl's credit.
- The Fatal Five's employer.
- Batman versus Mano.
- Black Adam versus a very angry little girl.
- Detective Jones' precinct.
- The reason why the Spectre wasn't in WWIII (which I should have remember myself).
- Todd & Damon.
- Aquaman sassing the gods.
- "Wallpaper duty".
- Power Girl's breasts really were everywhere this week, weren't they?
- Wonder Woman driving a hummer.
- Urban renewal, the Martian way.
- Mark Shaw, naked, wet, and wielding an eNORmous pigsticker.
- Catman really loves working those costumes, doesn't he?
- JLAers at a funeral.
- Harvey versus Waylon.
- Koryak's crypt.
- The return of Aquagirl.
- Hatch map. I love maps.
- "They described him as energetic and happy-go-lucky...." Another laughing-as-I-hit-the-floor moment.

Things That Made Me Happy...
in my comics this week.
DC tying up, in single panels, all the loose ends leading up to OYL. Now THAT is old-style pacing!
ReplyDeleteYeah. But did those single panels have to be littered over 5 books!?!?!
Yes...Hal Jordan playing chess was a hugely comical moment. Strategy is NOT Hal's strength. Heck, Booster can probably beat him at chess.
ReplyDeleteAnd Todd's wallpaper remark was a hoot.
I actually enjoyed WWIII, which seems to put me in a distinct minority.
Hal and chess? Wow.
ReplyDeleteklak-klak-klak!
HAL: King me!
NORMAL PERSON: Wrong game, Hal.
HAL: Oh, sorry. Um...Yahtzee!
NORMAL PERSON: -sigh-
HAL: mfmffmfmf!!
NORMAL PERSON: Hal, take the rook out of your mouth.
I'd pay to watch that. Especially knowing that the endgame would somehow involve Hal getting hit on the head.
where was Dolores Winters this week? I've loved her since she had a gem fused to her forehead...
ReplyDeletenaked, wet mark shaw and "wallpaper duty" were the best for me this week. think i need to go read manhunter again ...
ReplyDeleteDolores was in JLA.
ReplyDeleteNext month: Hal loses to a chicken at tic-tac-toe.
ReplyDeletehttp://nonpartypolitics.blogspot.com/2007/04/was-v-tech-gunman-punish-comic-book-fan.html
ReplyDeleteThe Punisher as an influence for the Virginia Tech Killer?
Would this be good, bad, or "eh" for the Comic Book world?
Probably just a coincidence.
Hal Jordan, playing chess.
ReplyDeleteWhen Hal plays chess, he doesn't wear the ring.
Power Girl's breasts really were everywhere this week, weren't they?
And yet not nearly everywhere enough.
"When Hal plays chess, he doesn't wear the ring."
ReplyDeleteNow THAT made me laugh!
WWIII was bad. Just bad. I had to read four issues of Martian Manhunter crying to himself because Black Adam's mind distressed him so. J'Onn went into the JOKER's mind and didn't get phased at all. And why is Martian Manhunter the focus of this story?
ReplyDeleteI suppose someone figured that if Jim Kirk, the original blowhard and sexaholic in spaaaaaace!, can play chess (and 3D chess at that), why not Hal?
ReplyDeleteAll of those things on your list were great, but the things that made me happiest this week were:
ReplyDelete"For the love of everything bendable, we're losing valuable costume time!"
and
"Time's archives decree that this is what guarantees my victory over the AMAZON GALAXY!"
There's a freakin' AMAZON GALAXY people!
Plus I cannot help but wonder if Hawkgirl's ubiquity can be explained by the number 52? Just a thought....
I suppose someone figured that if Jim Kirk, the original blowhard and sexaholic in spaaaaaace!, can play chess (and 3D chess at that), why not Hal?
ReplyDeleteBecause everyone knows Spock was just humoring him.
I beg to differ. Jim Kirk was a sex machine with all the space chicks, but he was also a daring, savvy captain with an excellent command of strategy and tactics. He's an Aubrey/Hornblower type, only in a velour shirt and with strange space STDs.
ReplyDeleteSpock probably played like a chess computer, and Kirk might have cheated.
Well, duh. Of course he cheated! I bet Hal tried that too, but Mr. Terrific probably caught him at it...
ReplyDeletePower Girl's breasts even made a Marvel Universe appearance in X-23!!!
